TOCCOA, Ga. – The Newberry College men's golf team wrapped up play at the Currahee Invitational on Tuesday afternoon, improving their team score each round to finish 13th overall in the 16-team field.
After opening with a 304 in round one, the Wolves shaved two strokes off in round two with a 302, before closing the event with their best team score of the week—a 291 in the final round—for a three-round total of 897 (+33) at Currahee Golf Club.
Josh Greig and Fredrik Gannon led the Wolves with matching three-round totals of 224 (+8) to tie for 36th place. Both players finished strong with even-par 72s in the final round to cap off steady performances.
Julius Gieraths carded the team's low round of the tournament on the final day, firing a two-under 70 (-2) to finish tied for 48th at 227 (+11). Pablo Colin followed at 229 (+13), highlighted by a first-round 73, while Jesper Gruendemann rounded out Newberry's lineup at 236 (+20).
Nationally-ranked Wingate claimed the team title with a three-round score of 843 (-21), followed by USC Aiken (866, -2) and Lenoir-Rhyne (870, +6). Emmanuel's Lukas Lautrup-Nissen and Wingate's Brandon Skidmore shared individual medalist honors at 204 (-12).
The Wolves will return to action October 20–21, when they travel to Lander for their next tournament
