NEWBERRY – The Newberry College wrestling team (3-0, 3-0 Conference Carolinas) will host Life University (2-0, 0-0 Appalachian Athletic Conference) in a highly anticipated battle tomorrow (Dec. 2) at 3 p.m. in Eleazer Arena. The Wolves will be partnering with Newberry Young Professionals and their H.U.G.S. drive for this dual – if fans bring a new and unopened hat, underwear, gloves or socks they will get into the contest for FREE.

The Wolves enter the match ranked No. 3 in the most recent NCAA Super Region II Poll while the Running Eagles are currently the No. 2 team in the NAIA.
Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry is coming off a thrilling 21-20 victory over King University two weeks ago in Tennessee.
•
Zach Shupp (125 pounds) started the match off for the Wolves with a 21-13 major decision.
• After falling behind 20-4 in the match overall, a pair of major decisions by
Andrew Reed (174) and
ZeBrandon Gant (184) brought Newberry within 20-12.
•
John Parker (197) then scored a huge pinfall 1 minute, 11 seconds into the third period of his match to bring the score to 20-18 going into the final 285-pound match.
• In that match,
Devon Rice earned a 4-1 decision to give Newberry the three points it needed to take home the victory.
Scouting the Running Eagles:
• Life picked up a pair of victories back on Nov. 17 over Keiser University (55-0) and St. Thomas University (Fla.) (40-7).
• In the match with Keiser, the Running Eagles scored six pinfalls and two technical falls.
• Against St. Thomas, Life registered three pins (133, 197 and 285 pounds) to go along with four technical falls.
