NEWBERRY – The Newberry College women's basketball team (0-1) fell to the Crusaders of North Greenville University (1-0) 67-54 Friday afternoon.
Sophomore forward
Jess Tomkins had a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 13 rebounds on the afternoon. Tomkins added a team high three blocks.
April Rummery-Lamb added 14 points for the Wolves. Senior guard
Payton Cronen shot 50% from the three-point line, scoring 11 points on the evening. Freshman
Nadia Burns made an impact coming off the bench, scoring seven points.
The Wolves took an 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter shooting 62% from the field behind eight first quarter points from Tomkins.
The Wolves had nine second chance points to the Crusaders' eight points on the night.
The Wolves are back in Eleazer Arena tomorrow as they will face the Bulldogs of Barton College who fell to Augusta 86-46 in the night cap.
