Emma Westbrook scores a hat trick, as Newberry defeats Lander 4-3 Saturday at Setzler Field.
Westbrook scored the first three goals as freshman forward
Payton Keeler would add the game winner with 1:03 to go in the fourth quarter to lead the Wolves to a 4-3 win.
The Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter when Westbrook would get a deflection past the keeper to make it 1-0.
In the second quarter the Wolves and Bearcats go back in forth as Lander would score the equalizer to make it 1-1. Westbrook would take a long loft pass from
Parker Keeler to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead before the half.
In the third quarter, the Bearcats would tie it back up at two before Westbrook would score goal number three on the assist from
Lily Drury to make it 3-2.
Midway through the fourth Lander would tie the game back up at three. Then on a corner with 1:10 left,
Payton Keeler would hit a slapshot that got by everything to eventually give the Wolves a 4-3 win.
The Wolves (11-1, 8-1 SAC) will be back at home next Saturday, as they host the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial at Setzler Field at 11:00 a.m.
