NEWBERRY – The number nine ranked Newberry College field hockey team's offense continued to shine in a 6-0 senior day victory against Lincoln Memorial Saturday morning at Setzler Field.
Sophomore forward
Emma Westbrook continued to stay hot off her national and SAC player of the week as she added her fourth hat trick on the afternoon along with an assist. Senior midfielder
Hailey Moore had two assists on the day.
Junior Forward
Tamsin Bangert got the scoring started in the first quarter with a slap shot that got by everything off the assist of Moore on a corner to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead.
Seven minutes later, Westbrook got her scoring started with a highlight goal between her legs to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead off the assist from Moore.
Westbrook would score her second goal early in the second quarter off of a tip on a long pass from Moore that got to
Agustina Montserrat to extend the lead to 3-0. Four minutes later, Bangert would add her second goal of the day on a re-directed entry from
Lieke Varenkamp to make it 4-0. Late in the first half, Westbrook would set that hat trick in stone as she puts one past the keeper on a 1 v. 0 breakaway to make it 5-0.
Freshman
Parker Keeler would add a goal in the fourth quarter to make it a final at 6-0 off the assist from Westbrook.
The Wolves (12-1, 8-1 SAC) will hit the road next Wednesday for a big contest against no. 5 Mount Olive.
