MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Newberry College field hockey team fell short in a comeback attempt in a 4-2 loss to the Trojans of Mount Olive Tuesday in Mount Olive.
Junior forward
Tamsin Bangert added two goals on the day for the Wolves. Newberry out shot Mount Olive 15-9 in the contest.
Bangert's first goal came midway through the first quarter on an assist from
Emma Westbrook on a corner to tie the game at one. The Trojans would score three consecutive goals starting late in the first half to take a 4-1 lead.
Bangert's second goal would come with just over two minutes to go in regulation.
The Wolves (12-2, 9-2 SAC) will continue their road trip as they travel to face the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College in Clover, S.C., Friday at 2:00 p.m.
