CLOVER, S.C. – The Newberry College field hockey team fell on the road to Belmont Abbey Friday by a score of 4-2.
Parker and
Payton Keeler tallied the goals for the Wolves.
Emma Westbrook got an assist on the day.
Payton would score the first goal of the match off a penalty corner assisted by Westbrook to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead. That would be the only lead the Wolves grab, as Belmont Abbey would score three consecutive goals. Parker would score off a penalty shot to cut the score to 3-2.
The Wolves were on the attack the whole fourth quarter, out shooting the Crusaders 4-3 and having three to their one corner.
The Wolves (12-3, 9-3 SAC) will finish their three-game road trip as they head to Greenwood next Wednesday to face the Bearcats of Lander. That match will start at 6:00 p.m., at Emerald High School.
