GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Newberry College field hockey team won a thrilling overtime victory this evening on the road against Lander 1-0.
With the game going to Overtime at 0-0 the Wolves out shot the Bearcats 9-4 in regulation.
Hailey Moore would score the golden goal with 7:44 left in the first overtime period to secure the win. Moore's goal happened as she took a pass from a Lander defender dribbled into the circle and sent a shot past the keeper to end the match. The Wolves held Lander to four total shots on the game.
With both teams tied for second place in the South Atlantic Conference, the Wolves take sole possession of the second place with one game remaining in the regular season.
The Wolves (13-3, 10-3 SAC) will come back to Setzler field for their regular season finale as they will host the Valkyries of Converse Saturday at 2:00 p.m. (EST).
