HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Newberry Wolves volleyball team swept the Cobras of Coker University on the road this evening in three straight sets.
The Wolves came out strong in the first set, maintaining at least a four point lead up until the Wolves proceeded to go on a five-point run with the help of a setter dump from Annie Dill and kills from Kate Brown and Margaret McMahon to make the score 22-12. The Wolves finished the first set 25-15.
The Cobras started with a lead in the second set but that didn't stop the Wolves. The Wolves tied the set 12-12, the teams went point for point until the Cobras took the lead 23-21. The Wolves then took off with three kills from Samantha Shaffer, a kill from Brown, and a block from Madison Watson and Shaffer to close out the set 25-23.
The Wolves were on a mission in the third set, to win in three. The Wolves left the Cobras in the dust, taking the lead early. The Wolves defeated the Cobras in the third set 25-13.
Game Leaders
Samantha Shaffer led the Wolves with 12 kills, Taylor Hall with 11, and Watson with nine. Watson and Shaffer led with four blocks, McMahon with three. Olivia Bradley led the pack with 21 digs for the evening.
