Women’s Golf Finishes Converse Spring Invite in Sixth Place

Liden finishes in the Top-15

Spartanburg, S.C. - After the final day of the Converse Spring Invite, the Newberry Women's Golf team posted a sixth-place finish out of a field of 15 teams. The Wolves finished shooting at 653 (+77).

Sophomore Sofia Liden (Sweden) led the Wolves, shooting a team-low 159 (+15) strokes and carding a round of 79 (+7) with a final round of 80 (+8). Liden finished the invite tied for 15th place.

Freshman Ida Hansen (Oerebro, Sweden) finished tied for 17th just two places behind her fellow teammate. Hansen posted rounds of 83 (+11) and 77 (+5) for a total of 160 (+16).

Freshman Julia Järvholm (Umeå, Sweden) wrapped up play tied for 28th. The newcomer shot rounds of 83 (+11) and 81 (+9) to end with a total of 164 (+20).

Sophomore Ashton Thomas (Spartanburg, S.C.) finished tied for 38th, shooting a total of 170 (+26). Thomas carded rounds of 81 (+9) and 89 (+17) to wrap up play.

Senior Amiyah Starnes (Columbia, S.C.) posted a tie for 61st place, shooting rounds of 92 (+20) and 91 (+19) to finish with 183 (+39) total strokes.

Sophomore Maggie Runyon (Charleston, S.C.) rounds out the Wolves on the leaderboard, finishing in 77th with rounds of 99 (+27) and 108 (+36). Runyon shot 207 (+63) total strokes.

The Newberry Women's Golf team returns to play on Monday, March 21 in Chuckey, Tenn. at the Tusculum Agnes McAmis Memorial.
