MATCHUP HISTORY
Wednesday's matchup will be the third meeting this season and 61st meeting all-time between the two programs. Newberry is 23-37 versus Catawba dating back to 1985. The Wolves look to get their first win against the Indians since January 29, 2020. Catawba won both regular season meetings this season with their most recent one taking place on February 16, 2022 inside Eleazer Arena. The Indians escaped Newberry, S.C. with a 68-54 road victory over the Wolves.Â

Newberry (12-15, 12-12 SAC) clinched the sixth seed with a narrow, 67-66, win over Lenoir-Rhyne this past Saturday (Feb. 26). The Scarlet & Gray finished the regular season averaging 60.1 ppg (11th in SAC) while allowing opponents 65.5 (7th in SAC). The Wolves also ranked third in the SAC in blocks per game averaging 3.8 rejections per game.Â
Redshirt Junior Ericka Wiseley (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) is coming off a career-high 26-point four rebound performance on Saturday against Lenoir-Rhyne. Wiseley is the Wolves second leading scorer this season averaging 8.6 ppg and notching 12 double figure scoring games this year.Â
Junior Giulia Bongiorno (Rome, Italy) leads the Wolves in scoring and assists, averaging 9.6 ppg and 2.5 apg. Bongiorno also tallied two 10 rebound games this season.Â
Junior Courtney Virgo (Mackay, Australia) leads the team in rebounding with 4.8 pg and averaging 7.6 ppg this season.
CATAWBA
Catawba (22-5, 19-5 SAC) enters the SAC Tournament boasting the third seed. The Indians finished the regular season ranked third in points per game with 71.6 ppg while allowing opponents 59.6 ppg (2nd in the SAC). They also average eight made-threes a game which is good for 2nd in the conference.Â
Lyrik Thorne leads the Indians in scoring averaging 14.6 ppg, three assists, and three rebounds per game.Â
Sara Mcintosh ranks second in scoring for the Indians with 11 ppg and grabbing 3.3 rebounds per game.
