Newberry, S.C. - The Newberry College men's basketball team (9-8, 9-6 SAC) will be looking to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Jefferson City, Tenn. to take on the Eagles of Carson-Newman (13-7, 10-6 SAC) with hopes of climbing even higher in the South Atlantic Conference standings.
Both teams will be looking to back in the win column as the Wolves are coming off a 76-61 loss to No. 18 Queens while the Eagles fell to the No. 16 Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial by a score of 73-57.
This will be the sixty-second matchup between these two programs with the Wolves riding a four-game winning streak over the Eagles dating back to the 2019-20 season. In the most recent matchup, the Wolves overcame an eleven-point halftime deficit to defeat the Eagles in a defensive struggle by a score of 55-51 in Eleazer Arena on Dec. 11.
The Eagles run a balanced attack that features five different players averaging double-figures with several players able to offer a scoring punch when needed.
The Wolves will look to slow down the Eagles once again after holding Carson-Newman to season lows in three-point percentage and free throw attempts in the previous matchup.
