MATCHUP HISTORY
This Saturday's faceoff will be the 58th meeting all-time between Newberry and Catawba Women's basketball and the first of two matchups this season. Newberry is 23-35 all-time versus Catawba, with Catawba winning the last two meetings.
The last contest between the Wolves and Indians took place on Feb. 17, 2021, with Catawba escaping with the victory in blowout fashion 77-54.

NEWBERRY
Newberry (3-11, 3-8 SAC) looks to get back-to-back wins for the first time this season after defeating Mars Hill 71-46 this past Saturday (Jan. 8), inside Eleazer Arena.
The Wolves head into Saturday's face-off with eight players averaging five or more points through 14 games. Junior Giulia Bongiorno leads all Wolves in scoring and assists, averaging 9.5 points per game and 2.2 assists. Giulia has also scored double figures in five of her last seven games.
Redshirt Junior Tyla Stolberg ranks second in scoring for the Wolves, averaging 8.4 points per game and 4.5 rebounds on the season.
Redshirt Junior Mylasia Gates looks to continue her success on the boards as she tops the wolves in rebounding with six rebounds per game and 6.1 points through 14 games.
CATAWBA
Catawba (12-2, 9-2 SAC) looks to rebound after a five-point overtime loss (78-83) to Carson-Newman on Tuesday (Jan. 12), inside Abernathy Physical Education Center.
Five Indians are averaging double figures in scoring this season, with Sarah McIntosh leading the charge averaging 12.4 points per game on the season. Shemya Stanback leads the team in assists with 4.4 assists per game through the first 14 games.
LAST ACTION
Newberry Women's basketball got their first win of the new year last Saturday (Jan. 8) in a blowout win versus Mars Hill (71-46).
Giulia Bongiorno led her team in scoring with 20 points and four assists. Bongiorno shot an impressive 50-percent (4-for-8) from beyond-the-arc despite only playing three quarters.
Mylasia Gates also contributed nine points and snagged four rebounds in Saturday's victory.
Courtney Virgo led the team in rebounds with six boards and six points, with all six of her points coming from beyond-the-arc.
Newberry finished the game shooting a stellar 44-percent from the field and 31-percent from three to defeat Mars Hill 71-46, just 11 points shy of their season-high (82).
