NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Newberry Wolves Women's Basketball team bounced back from last night's road loss to Catawba in a big way, defeating the Trojans of Anderson University by a score of 71-59 at Eleazer Arena.

Ericka Wiseley led the way for the Wolves with 14 points on 6-10 (60%) shooting from the field and 3 steals in 30 minutes of action. Senior guard
Keli Romas had 12 points, six rebounds, five steals and three assists while sophomore guard
Courtney Virgo had 11 points and four boards on 4-8 (50%) shooting from the field, including 3-5 (60%) from three. Senior guard
Ke'Shaun White scored 10 points, two assists, two steals and two blocks on 4-6 (60%) shooting from the field in 16 minutes coming off the bench.
Newberry got off to a great start early, leading by 11 on multiple occasions in the first quarter, including when they led 20-9 on a layup by Wiseley with 2:05 left in the quarter. The Wolves led by as much as 15 in the game, with the score at 34-19 with 7:00 left in the second quarter on a layup by Virgo. But the visitors stormed back with a 10-0 run to start the third period, leading by as much as four. From there, the game went back and fourth until the Wolves salted the game away with some key shots late in the fourth, including when senior guard
Kelsey Brett hit a fastbreak layup with 6:34 left. They extended the lead to five seconds later on a steal by freshman guard
Payton Cronen who dished it to Virgo, who hit a step-back three with 6:25 left.Â
For the game, Newberry was 26-54 (48.1%) from the field, 6-14 (42.9%) from deep and 13-19 (68.4%) from the free throw line. From the field, Newberry was a key 8-14 (57.1%) in both the first and fourth quarter.Â
