HICKORY, N.C. - A late Newberry rally on the road fell short as the Wolves were defeated by the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University by a score of 52-63. The Wolves fall to 8-9 and 7-9 in SAC play with one more regular-season game remaining.

Talia Roberts combined to score 21 of Newberry's 52 points on the night. Romas was 5-8 (62.5%) from the field and collected five rebounds in 31 minutes of play while redshirt sophomore forward

Ke'Shaun White each played 17 minutes and had seven rebounds.Â

Courtney Virgo each had two steals to lead the Newberry defense.

Ericka Wiseley made the score 7-8 in favor of the Bears at the end of the first quarter. But L-R went on a 20-2 run to start the second frame before Newberry cut it to nine on a three-pointer by Brett with 1:42 left in the quarter. After a few more baskets by the Bears after Brett's three, Newberry went into the locker room trailing 32-19.
The third quarter saw Gates combine for five of Newberry's nine points. In the fourth quarter, Newberry scored 22 points as the Wolves tried to rally, cutting it to as much as 11 on two occasions. The Wolves hit five three-pointers in the quarter, the last being Virgo's with 1:53 left.
