FLORENCE, S.C. - The Newberry Women's tennis team kept up their hot streak, defeating Augusta College 4-1 on day one of the City of Florence College Tennis Invitational. The Newberry women' tennis team has now won 11 straight matches during the spring and fall slate. 

Doubles
The Wolves picked up two wins during doubles play to get things going at the Kassab Courts. Judit Gonzalez Agud and Elisa Aguirre kept up their momentum as a duo by cruising past the Jaguar's Franco Dias and Ana Faria by a 6-3 margin. Lucy Spice and Amy Griffiths were able to battle it out against Vieira and Miralles-Miro of Augusta University, prevailing victorious 7-6. 

Singles
Judit Gonzalez Agud continued her strong season in singles play after winning SAC AstroTurf player of the week, prevailing comfortably over Miralles-Miro 6-3,6-3. Aguirre followed in her footsteps as she defeated Franco Dias by a 6-4,6-3 margin. Amy Griffiths gave the Wolves another point as took down the Jaguar's Merye Gobernate by a 6-1,6-4 margin.

The Wolves look to continue their success on day two of the invitational as they are set to face the winner between Lander University and Barton College.
