Newberry, SC - Lander held off 13th ranked Newberry 5-4 Tuesday night in non-conference baseball action.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second, the Wolves would take advantage of two Lander errors to score three runs and make it 3-1.  However, the Bearcats would score two runs in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and the sixth to regain the lead 5-3.  Newberry wouldn't go down without a fight, though.  In the bottom of the ninth, Kenny Bergmann would lead off with a double down the left-field line and then score on an infield single by Nick Butler to make it a one-run game.  Lander would get out of the jam to take the victory.  

Luke Orr was 1-2 with a double, run scored and RBI, while Bergmann finished 1-4 with a double, run scored and run driven in.  Josh Stempihar (0-1) took the loss allowing one unearned run on three his in one and one-third innings of work.
