LYNCHBURG, VA. - The Newberry Wolves men's and women's indoor track and field teams continued their season this weekend at the Liberty Kickoff hosted by Liberty University.
On the women's side,
Charlotte Johnson finished 31st in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 8.10 seconds while teammates
Elka Variste and
Emma Johnson finished 41st and 47th, respectively. All three also competed in the 200 meter prelims, with Johnson recording the highest finish with a time of 27.24 seconds.
The Wolves finished seventh in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 10:57.80. In the field events, Variste finished 36th in the long jump with a distance of 4.81 meters (15-9.5) while
D'Arion Johnston finished 28th in the triple jump with a mark of 10.86 meters (35-7.75).
Iris Duke finished 20th in the weight throw with a school record toss of 13.80 meters (45-3.5).
On the men's side,
Jeremiah Mack finished 29th in the 60 meter prelims with a time of 7.17. Teammates
Michael Parrish, Edwards Collins, and
Donald Smith also competed in the event.
Kalyn Cook finished 30th in the 200 meter prelims with a time of 22.58 seconds while Mack, Smith, Parrish, and
Tyrese Grant also competed.
Casey Brown finished 27th in the 400 meters with a time of 51.23 seconds while
Elijah Fulmore finished 34th.
Justin Castro finished 15th in the 500 meter dash with a time of 1:11.64, and
Chandler Stanley finished 14th in the 1000 meter run with a time of 2:49.58 while
Michael Richter finished 18th.
Quinn Wilson placed 27th in the mile as he ran a time of 4:38.85, and the 4x400 meter relay team finished 21st with a time of 3:35.02. The 4x800 meter relay team finished eighth with a time of 8:47.14.
Antonio Buchanan tied for 11th in the high jump with a clearance at 1.90 meters (6-2.75) while Grant placed 16th in the long jump with a mark of 6.62 meters (21-8.75).
Kayshon Mitchell finished 14th in the weight throw with a distance of 14.58 meters (47-10) while
Kegan Crowell placed 29th.Â
The Wolves will compete again this coming weekend in the Carolina Challenge hosted by the University of South Carolina.
