Kearnan claims SAC Freshman of the Year

Mansur and Boone named to All-SAC teams

ROCK HILL – Newberry continues to make strides as a program and the conference has taken noticed with the Wolves claiming the Freshman Player of the Year along with two All-SAC selections.
 
Freshman attack Brady Kearnan has had a fantastic first year in the Scarlet and Gray, earning the conference Freshman of the Year honors. Dylan Mansur and Stone Boone were selected to All-Conference teams, respectively.
 
Brady Kearnan – South Atlantic Conference Freshman of the Year
 
Kearnan has made his mark in the SAC, ranking first in the conference in total points (66), second in assists (29) and tied seventh in goals (37). With his presence on the offensive end, he has helped the Wolves earn their first berth in the SAC Tournament in program history.
 
The Courtice, Ontario, Canada native started his collegiate career hot, compiling nine points in each of his first two games. In the second game of his career, he was able to set the bar in the conference for goals scored in a game with eight against Shorter, a mark that was previously set by Garrett Kilgore of Coker in 2017.
 
Once Kearnan and Newberry entered conference action, he became more of a facilitator and set his teammates up for success. In three conference games, he had four or more assists with six coming against Mars Hill in the regular season finale. The six assists against Mars Hill are tied for second in the conference, tying Ryan Mauer of Coker in 2014.
 
Kearnan has also gave Newberry an extra boost in games, grabbing 27 ground balls with career-high four against Montevallo.
 
Dylan Mansur – All-South Atlantic Conference First Team
 
Mansur finishes his career with the Wolves as the all-time leader in points (112), goals (66) and assists (46). In his senior campaign, he netted 45 goals which is first in the conference. His 66 points on the year is second in the conference, only behind fellow teammate Kearnan. Mansur also came up clutch on multiple occasions, coming away with four game-winning goals.
 
An Edgewater, Md. native, Mansur had a career-high 10 points against Emmanuel, having eight goals and two assists. His 10 points is ranked second in the conference behind Andy Campos of Coker who had 11 points in 2014. His eight goals against Emmanuel ties him for most in a game with with teammate Brady Kearnan. Mansur has scored at least three goals in eight games.
 
To add to his production on offense, Mansur was also able to grab 30 ground balls with a season-high of five against Emmanuel.
 
Stone Boone – All-South Atlantic Conference Honorable Mention
 
Boone has been one of Newberry's most consistent player in conference action, scoring 25 of his 41 goals which is best in the league. His 41 goals ties him for third in the conference. Boone has scored at least three goals in six of eight conference games with a career-high six coming against Lincoln Memorial which helped Newberry secure a berth into the SAC Tournament.
 
A Stevensville, Md. native, Boone has also been crucial in giving Newberry extra opportunities on the offensive end, grabbing 35 ground balls with is fifth on the team.
