Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, GA. – The Newberry softball team swept the doubleheader on the road against the Augusta Jaguars on Tuesday afternoon at Jaguar Field.

Newberry is on a four-game winning streak and have won nine of their last 10 games in their strong start to the season.

Game One (Newberry wins 8-1 vs. Augusta)
Newberry's lineup did some damage to the Jaguars in the first game of the doubleheader as the Wolves cruised to an 8-1 victory.

Paige Meyer led off with a single to left center. After stealing second, Meyer would reach home when McKenzie Barneycastle drove her in on a single up the middle of the field to put the Wolves ahead 1-0 in the first.

Newberry's Hannah Davis and Reagan Glanz took walks to start the second inning, leading up to a single from Sydney Patterson to load the bases. Barneycastle would score two runs on her RBI-single to right center. Natalie Willis would then blow the game open in the next at-bat with her second homerun of the season to put the Wolves up 6-0.

The Jaguars would attempt to rally in the fifth, scoring a single run on two hits, but starting pitcher Alyssa Ball struck out a batter and forced a groundout and fly out to end the inning.

Patterson would add on two runs in the final inning, as she doubled to right center to score Glanz. A wild pitch would move her to third where pinch hitter Kailey Carpenter drove her home on a groundout to shortstop.

Ball picked up her eighth win of the year after pitching five innings where she gave up only one run on four hits.

Chelsey Cunningham continued her strong performance in relief as she pitched the final two innings striking out two batters.

Meyer, Barneycastle, Willis, Glanz, and Patterson all had multiple hits in the game for the Wolves.
