NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's tennis team fell to No. 41 Georgia College Thursday afternoon by a score of 7-0.
The Wolves (11-8, 1-4 SAC) found themselves in close match throughout the day but could not come away with a win. In doubles action,
Elisa Aguirre and
Marta Gomar were in a tightly contested match but were edged out by Valeria Lopez and Emma Fleming by a 7-5 score.
In singles action,
Amy Griffiths was edged out by Paula Garriga. IN the first match Griffiths had the win in sight but Garriga came away with the close 7-6 set win. In the second set, Garriga was able to come away with the 6-4 win.
Aguirre was in a tough match, especially in the first set against Emilia Richter. Ritcher got a 6-4 first set win and then came away with the 6-3 second set win to take the match.
The Wolves will have a quick turnaround as they face Mars Hill tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. at the Oakland Tennis Center
