WINGATE, N.C. - The Newberry men's and women's cross country teams competed in the South Atlantic Conference Championship meet Saturday morning, and both teams posted some solid results to finish 10th in the team standings. Queens won the men's and women's races.
The women were led by freshman
Alaya Lindquist, who finished 54th overall with a time of 26:03.8 for the 6-kilometer course. Other female competitors included
Anne Bouwkamp,
Kenia Smith,
Miranda Kirkley,
Diana Gutierrez, and
Kensley Dantzler.
The men were led by senior
Quinn Wilson, who finished 52nd overall with a time of 28:50.1 for the 8-kilometer course. Other competitors included
Chandler Stanley,
Shelton Reynolds,
Mike Richter,
Jorge Hernandez, and
Carlos Hernandez.Â
The program will now turn their eyes to the indoor track and field season.
