MYRTLE BEACH – The Newberry women's golf team finished in eighth at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate at Ocean Ridge Plantation. The Wolves finished with a team score of 334 (+46) in the second round and a final team score of 668 (+92).
Hanne Sofie Borgen finished as the top golfer for the Wolves at the event. Borgen landed in a tie for 10th place, after shaving four strokes off her first round. Her scored a 76 (+4) in the second round and a 12-over 156 for her total.
Freshman
Jordan Guyton shot a 85 (+13) on the second day. Her total of 166 (+22) was good for 29th place in a field of 47
The other two Wolves golfers that competed were
Aubrey Guyton and
Johana Lunackova. Both of them had rough days on the course. Guyton was able to shave two strokes off her first round for an 86 (+14). Lunackova shot a 15-over 87 in the second round.
Of the eight total teams that participated all but three were South Atlantic Conference teams. Lenior-Rhyne beat Mount Olive by two strokes on the second day, after the two teams were tied for first at the end of day one.
The Wolves will travel to Georgia next week to compete in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial on Monday.
