Wolves fall to Queens

Sophie Moore notched a goal and assist in the 22-3 loss

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – An unrelenting offense from Queens caused issues for the Wolves in a 22-3 loss at Dickson Field on Wednesday evening.

Helen Kuhn put the Wolves on the board with the help of Sophie Moore to knot the contest at one apiece in the opening 50 seconds of the frame. Newberry would not find the net again until 2:49 left in the first stanza with Naomi Killian scoring and the assist going to Alexis Kahler. The Royals barraged Newberry during the opening half to take a 17-2 advantage heading into intermission.

A lone goal from Moore at the 14:26 mark would be the Wolves only score of the second half. Queens poured on five goals in the latter frame to come away with the 22-3 win.

The Wolves were bombarded in goal with 36 shots compared to Newberry's 10. Rachel Dillon accounted for almost half of the Wolves' shots tallying four throughout the game. She also racked up five draw controls while Kuhn accounted for four.

Brandy Bowman battled in goal collecting eight saves on the night.

Newberry continues their road stretch heading to Harrogate, Tenn. to face Lincoln Memorial at noon on Saturday, April 14.
