NEWBERRY - Zoe Dinkins' season-high 11 kills was not enough ammunition for the Wolves to secure a win against Augusta, falling 3-1 in four sets. The match marked Dinkins' second consecutive game with double-digit kills.

Newberry's only victory of the match came in the second set. A kill from Vanessa Blas put the Wolves up 7-2 early in the set and Newberry cruised to a 25-17 win to tie the game 1-1. Newberry recorded 14 kills and had a game-low three errors in their best performance of the night.

Augusta out-blocked Newberry by a 28-13 margin. Blas and Dinkins tied with a team-high three block assists each.

Coming out of a second set victory, the Wolves were unable to capitalize on the momentum shift and instead lost the remaining two sets 25-15 and 25-21.

Kensley Jordan led the team with 19 digs, and currently ranks fifth in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) in total digs with 329.

The match started out slow with Newberry lacking consistency and losing 25-14 in the first set. The Wolves committed 11 errors during the set compared to two from the Jaguars.

Augusta was Newberry's last nonconference matchup of the season 

Newberry will embark on a three-game road trip that begins at Carson-Newman on Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.
