Box Score NEWBERRY - In the first meeting between the two teams back in November, the Wolves would sneak past the Royals in an a close eight-point win in Charlotte. Tonight's game would fall on the opposite end of the spectrum, as Newberry (11-6, 7-6 SAC) would dominate Queens (4-14, 4-9 SAC) at Eleazer Arena by a final of 74-41.
Nicola Handreck would still have the hot hand picking up right where she left off over the weekend in Jefferson City. The junior guard lead all scorers with 17 points which included five three pointers. Handreck would add five boards and dish out three assists in 32 minutes. She is just one assist shy of no. 10 all-time in Newberry history.

Newberry would find themselves trailing Queens by two points after the first ten minutes as both teams struggled shooting the ball early. The Wolves would respond in the second quarter outscoring the Royals 23-8.
Newberry would break an 18-18 tie on a Hannah Lepaio layup at the 6:41 mark of that quarter, and would never look back starting a 47-11 run in a span of 19:52. Holding a team to 41 points is a new season-best for Newberry. Lepaio would provide major insurance off the bench handing out a career-high six assists to go along with five points and four rebounds.
The Royals did not break the 30-point mark until 6:09 of the fourth quarter after McKell Oliverio would connect on shot from beyond the arc. Oliverio lead Queens with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
Courtney Lyons would make another appearance in the starting lineup as the Wolves would be without junior guard Samara Hill. Lyons posted a career-high 11 points connecting on three three-pointers in 32 minutes. The sophomore would also grab three rebounds, dish out two assists and come up with three steals.
Jaya Schultz would also collect 16 points notching a new career-high on 4-of-9 shooting. The senior from Santa Clarita, Calif. would go a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line. The forward added to her stat line coming down with a team-high six rebounds.
Meg Essex finished the evening with 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting in 16 minutes. Shelby Britten would chip in 10 points and a team-high seven assists. All five starters finished the game in double figures for Newberry for the second time this season. The Wolves completed this feat just a few weeks earlier in a 71-56 win vs. Tusculum.
Newberry finished the game shooting 48.2 percent from the field, all while holding Queens to 32.5 percent.
"I thought the team did a really good job executing defensively," said Newberry head coach Sean Page. "It definitely showed keeping them to 41 and having two quarters where we kept them under 10 points. Offensively we were okay, but I thought defensively we were really good tonight."
With the win, Newberry moves to 9-2 at Eleazer Arena this season. The Wolves will look to build on that record when they host Anderson this Saturday, Jan. 28th. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
