Newberry left a runner on third in the first inning and a runner on second base in the second inning before finding the break through in the fifth. Natalie Willis led off the frame with a bunt single, stole second base and scored from there on a two out bloop single by Myers to put Newberry up 1-0.

Newberry used the strong pitching of Morrison to shut out the Braves the second time, also throwing out five runners on the basepaths. UNC Pembroke didn't have a runner safely reach scoring position until the top of the seventh inning.
Mallory Gerndt and McCourry led off the second with back-to-back singles and moved into scoring position on a Willis sacrifice bunt. Paul laid down a bunt in a squeeze situation and a UNCP throwing error allowed two runs to score and give Newberry a 2-0 lead.
McCourry launched a leadoff homer to left field in the fourth to give the Wolves some insurance, as Morrison shut down the Braves and pushed the Newberry win streak to nine.
