LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOLVES
The team defeated the Tornados of Brevard College 73-63, on Saturday afternoon in their last regular season game. The Wolves’ 15 conference wins is the most in program history and earned them the 2nd seed for the South Atlantic Conference tournament.
At the half, Shelby Britten led the team scoring nine points followed by Meg Essex who scored six. Colleen Leung and Emily Perry both contributed four points each for the win.
Samantha Creed finished with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and one steal. Hannah Lepaio grabbed five rebounds As a team, the Wolves finished 95.8% from the line and 37.0% from the field.

Earlier in the season, the team defeated Carson-Newman University 77-69.
At the half, Samantha Creed led the team in points with 14 followed by Hannah Lepaio with six. The Wolves shot 59% from the field. At the end of the third quarter, Newberry had a 60-51 lead. The Wolves shot 81.8% from the line and 55.0% from the field.
For the game, Creed finished with 19 points, two assists and two steals. Nicola Handreck finished the game with 15 points, six rebounds, seven assists, and one steal. Jaya Schultz finished the game with 13 points followed by Hannah Lepaio who scored 10 points. As a team, Newberry shot 76% from the line and 48.1% from the field.
SCOUTING CARSON-NEWMAN
The league announced Monday that junior guard Kailyn Brooks earned her first-career South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week accolades. The guard scored 43 points during the week going 13-for-22 from the floor with six made three-points in eight attempts. Brooks matched a career-high with 25 points against Brevard on Wednesday evening while tallying three assists. Against Coker on Saturday, the junior scored 18 points to go along with five assists and two steals.
Carson-Newman finished the 2015-16 conference season with a 12-10 record marking the sixth time in the last eight years with a record above .500. In those eight seasons, the Lady Eagles have been at least .500 in league play.
The Eagles broke the program’s three-point record on Feb. 10 against Anderson (S.C.). The Lady Eagles have made 185 triples. The previous record was 178 made three-pointers set during the 2013-14 season.
