FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 2 St. Cloud State Huskies took off on an early run and never looked back, handing the No. 18 Newberry Wolves the worst loss in program history, 43-3, in the opening round of the NWCA National Duals at the Allen County War Memorial Arena on Friday morning.

Newberry (6-1) wrestles Central Missouri at 3 p.m. and would wrestle either Maryville or Upper Iowa at 5 p.m. with a win.

Newberry's lone victory came at 184 lbs., when Huston Evans fought off an early takedown to earn a 9-3 decision over Uthman Rabiu.

At 157 lbs., Alex Rice held an 8-1 lead in the second period, but a quick reversal by Travis Holt turned into a win by fall for the Huskies. 197-pounder Cody Brundage also went into the sudden victory period before coming up on the wrong end of a 3-1 decision.

SCSU took bonus points in six of its wins. Newberry had not given up 40 points in a dual in Division II action before and had not done so in any match since a 40-9 loss at Appalachian State on January 7, 2006.
