INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Newberry Wolves men's wrestling team tested itself against one of the toughest fields of the season at the 46th Annual Midwest Classic, finishing 28th out of 46 teams in the nationally recognized tournament. Competing over multiple rounds against tough opponents, the Wolves showed grit and resilience while gaining valuable postseason-style experience.
Bo Perkins delivered Newberry's top individual finish, placing sixth at 165 pounds after a strong tournament run that included multiple victories by decision and technical fall. Perkins earned wins over David Pento, Christian Hirak, and Gaven Bremenkamp, and battled through a demanding consolation bracket to secure his podium finish.
Several Wolves picked up notable wins throughout the event, including Caiden Pelc at 133, who recorded three victories with a fall and two decisions, and John Parker at 197, who notched multiple wins including a first-period fall. Ricky Springs (125), Keagan Judd (149), and Matt Hoelke (157) each fought through challenging brackets, earning wins and valuable mat time against quality competition as Newberry continued to build toward the heart of the season.
