ROME, Ga. - The Newberry Wolves picked up bonus points in six matches on the way to a 38-3 rout of the Ouachita Baptist Tigers at Shorter's Winthrop-King Centre on Saturday afternoon.
Newberry moves to 9-2 on the season entering duals against Spartanburg Methodist and Southeastern (Fla.) next Saturday at SMC.
Trung Duong's 8-2 decision at 125 lbs. started the dual before Jordan Simpson powered to a 15-0 technical fall at 133 lbs. Nick Lankford took a 14-2 major decision at 141 lbs. and a decision by Dyllan Greene at 149 lbs. pushed the Wolves to an early 15-0 lead.
After dropping a decision at 157 lbs., the Wolves were bolstered by a first period pin by Nick Youung at 165 lbs. to get out to a 21-3 advantage.
Dennis Flores won by major decision at 174 lbs. and No. 3 Huston Evans pinned his opponent 22 seconds into the third period at 184 lbs. to clinch the dual at 31-3.
Cody Brundage won by decision at 197 lbs. and Patton Gossett closed out the strong win at heavyweight with a win by major decision.
