ROME, Ga. – The Newberry Wolves will continue their dual schedule this weekend, heading west to a triangular match with the Shorter Hawks and Ouachita Baptist Tigers.

Newberry will wrestle the host Hawks at 2 p.m., followed by the dual with the Tigers at 3:30 p.m. in Shorter’s Winthrop-King Centre.

Newberry brings a 7-2 dual record into the matches, while Shorter is 0-3 and Ouachita Baptist is 3-4.

SERIES HISTORY
Newberry has only wrestled Shorter once, eking out a 22-21 win at home in February 2014. Newberry has never wrestled Ouachita Baptist.

TEAM RANKINGS
Newberry is currently ranked seventh of the 14 teams in Super Region II, while Shorter is ranked 13^th in Super Region II. Ouachita Baptist competes in Super Region III and is ranked 11^th of 15 teams in that region.

NATIONAL RANKINGS
Newberry 184 lbs. wrestler Huston Evans is the only nationally ranked wrestler projected to start in the event. He is ranked third nationally with an overall record of 23-4, a 9-0 dual record and eight wins by fall.

SHORTER THAN WHAT?
Shorter has an unusual name, with a normal explanation. The university was originally named the Cherokee Baptist Female College, but was renamed for the financial contributions of Alfred and Martha Shorter in 1877.

SAY WHAT?
For those not used to encountering the Ouachita Baptist Tigers, the first word of the school can be a tongue twister. It’s pronounced watch-it-aw. The school is named for the Ouachita River, which forms the eastern boundary of the campus in Arkadelphia, Ark.
