THE JAGUARS
GRU Augusta went 22-34 last season and finished ninth in the strong Peach Belt Conference, but the Jaguars are returning 12 letterwinners while only losing one.
GRU was picked ninth in the Peach Belt Conference preseason coaches poll on Jan. 23. Head coach Melissa Brocato returns two starting pitchers in junior-duo Haley Birkle and Paige Deschaine for the upcoming year, as well as Kristen Mills who was sidelined last year with an injury. Deschaine was named second-team Peach Belt All-Conference in 2014. She recorded a team-high 247 strikeouts, 196 more from her freshman season.
