Newberry lost a tough game on the road to first place Wingate on Saturday, 67-51. The loss put Newberry’s record at 13-8 overall and 9-6 in the South Atlantic Conference where they are tied for third with three other teams including Lincoln Memorial. The Wolves are looking to avoid losing three straight games for the first time this season.

In the loss at Wingate, it marked the only time the Wolves lost on a Wednesday. They were previously 5-0 and it was also the first time they failed to have a player record more than 10 points. Today’s game is a rematch, Lincoln Memorial won the first meeting back on Dec. 15, 86-76 in Harrogate, Tenn.

Newberry will be glad to be back inside Eleazer Arena where they are 9-2 in home games this season and 5-2 in the South Atlantic Conference
After only shooting the ball 34.5 percent against the Bulldogs, the Wolves have slid from first to second in the SAC in field goal percentage (42.8) after Wednesday’s loss and in the last few weeks have fallen from first to fourth in 3-pointers made per game.

Lincoln Memorial comes into the game averaging the most rebounds and also boast a league-leading +13.3 rebounding margin per game, three rebounds better than the next closest team, Anderson. On the other hand, Newberry only ranks 10th in rebounds per game (36.4) compared to the league-leading Railsplitters. LMU also makes the most field goals per game at 27 a contest and are second in 3-point percentage (34.8), though they only take the tenth most 3-pointers. They are third in assists per game (14.5) but for all their offensive achievements, they struggle defensively.

The Railsplitters are eighth in field goal percentage and last in opponents 3-point percentage, something the Wolves can take advantage of
Newberry scored their second-highest point total of the year, 76 points, in the loss against LMU but surrendered the highest output allowing the Railsplitters to score 86 points.

The game is set for a 2 p.m. start.
