WOLVES NOTES
- The team improved to 4-1 in the South Atlantic Conference after defeating Mars Hill 76-58, on Wednesday night. For the game, Samantha Creed finished with 23 points and six rebounds. Nicola Handreck finished with 14 points, six assists, five rebounds, and one steal. Meg Essex led the team in steals with two and scored 13 points while grabbing five rebounds.
- Creed was named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for games played Nov. 30 – Dec. 6. Creed scored all of her 19 points in the second half in the Wolves’ only game of the week against No. 21 Carson-Newman. Creed collected three defensive rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes of play and was perfect from the three-point line as she made all three of her attempts.
- Essex is first in the SAC for total blocks with 19 and Handreck is second in the SAC for total assists with 43.
WOLVES & LADY RAILSPLITTERS LAST MEETING
- In the 2014-15 season, the team defeated Lincoln Memorial 66-57 in the South Atlantic Conference Quarterfinals.
- Creed had 20 points, three rebounds and three assists while Handreck posted a career-high 19 points to go along with three rebounds and three assists.
-Newberry forced 11 Lincoln Memorial turnovers in the first half and turned it into an 8-2 advantage in points off turnovers. The Wolves also had a 16-8 edge in the paint.
LADY RAILSPLITTERS NOTES
- Lincoln Memorial was picked to finish seventh in the South Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason coaches' poll, while junior forward Megan Pittman was named to the preseason All-SAC second team.
- Pittman averaged10 points and 8.4 rebounds per game last season, ranking sixth in the South Atlantic Conference in rebound average. The Coastal Carolina transfer ranked third in the SAC in defensive rebounds with 168 in her first season with the Lady Railsplitters. She ranked fourth in total rebounds with 243.
- The Lady Railsplitters returned three of their top-five scorers from last season in Pittman, Kiara Rawls and Shea Coker, who earned SAC All-Freshman Team distinctions last season. Lincoln Memorial also returned seven players that appeared in at least 16 games last season.
