NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Newberry College alumnus Kelly Anundson will fight for the light heavyweight championship of Bellator MMA's Summer Series on Friday, September 12, as announced by Bellator this week.
Anundson has advanced to the finals of the light heavyweight tournament with a 9-2 professional record. His fight against undefeated Liam McGeary will be televised live nationwide on Spike TV, with coverage starting at 9 p.m. live from the Compuware Arena in Plymouth, Mich., near Detroit.
In the Bellator Summer Series tournament, Anundson won by unanimous decision over Rodney Wallace in the first round and then defeated previously undefeated Phillipe Lins by TKO in the semifinals to advance to this finals event.
This will be Anundson's fourth Bellator event since his April debut at Bellator 115. He is 3-0 in Bellator fights.
Anundson was a two-time wrestling All-American at Newberry and has won multiple medals at the World Grappling Championships.
