NEWBERRY - The Newberry women's tennis team was overpowered by Division I squad South Carolina State on Monday at the Cannon Tennis Courts as the Bulldogs topped the Wolves 7-0.

Playing with Division I scoring rules, the Wolves (12-11) dropped the doubles point as the Bulldogs (14-4) earned a sweep of doubles action.

The Bulldogs controlled singles action as they swept Newberry in singles play.

The Wolves next play on Thursday in Rock Hill at the Food Lion SAC Championship, as the Wolves open in the quarterfinals against the No. 4-seed Catawba at 1 p.m.
