Wolves roll to program-record 58-0 win over Darton in Newberry Duals opener

NEWBERRY - The No. 4 Newberry Wolves opened the Seventh Annual Newberry Duals by setting a new program record for points scored and margin of victory with a 58-0 win over Darton.

Newberry (3-0) picked up eight pins and two technical falls, ending the dual in just over half an hour. The Wolves surrendered only two escapes in the entire dual and no offensive points.

All eight pins - Jeff Vesta (Manhattan, Kan.) at 125 lbs., B.J. Young (Jackson, N.J.) at 141 lbs., Taylor Knapp (Lawrenceville, Ga.) at 157 lbs., Blake Ridenour (Maryville, Tenn.) at 165 lbs., Cody Brundage (Chapin, S.C.) at 174 lbs., Jared Holliday (Burlington, N.J.) at 184 lbs., Braden Carter (Christiansburg, Va.) at 197 lbs. and Matt Wade (Easton, Md.) at heavyweight - came in the first period.

Brandon Thompson (Solon, Ohio) was the only wrestler making it to the third period in his 16-0 technical fall at 133 lbs., while Seiji Borja (Charleston, S.C.) earned a 15-0 technical fall early in the second period at 149 lbs.
