CONOVER, N.C. - The Newberry College women's golf team shot a season-low team score of 306 in Tuesday's second round of the Rock Barn Intercollegiate on the way to a tie for sixth place in the event.
Newberry dropped 14 strokes from its first round score, notching a total of 320-306=626 (+58) to tie with Grand Valley State.
Eline Askeland tied for 18th in the event with a 152 (+10) after a second round 75. Korey Coleman (Stanford, Ky.) finished in 27th place with a 155 (+13).
Marianna Monaco (Yonkers, N.Y.) dropped 10 strokes from yesterday's round with a 74 on the way to a 158 (+16). Sophia Opitz (Landskrona, Sweden) had a five-stroke improvement Tuesday and finished in 41st with a 161 (+19). Annabelle Dallery (Sumter, S.C.) rounded out the Newberry contingent in a tie for 62nd with a 174 (+32).
This event concludes the Wolves' fall schedule. The scarlet and gray are back in action on February 1-2, 2014, with the first of two consecutive events on Kiawah Island's Cougar Point Golf Course.
