Game Two: Newberry 13, Southern Wesleyan 4 (6 innings)
Yancey and sophomore Lindsey Workman (Aiken, S.C.) both tallied three hits as the Wolves took advantage of five SWU errors in a 13-4 six inning victory.
Newberry opened the scoring in game two when Holland tripled to left field before stealing home for the game's first run.
The Warriors countered with two runs in the bottom of the first to take an early 2-1 lead.
After a scoreless second inning, Newberry tied the game up when with two outs Yancey doubled to left, before scoring on a single by Holland. The Warriors regained the lead in the bottom of the inning when SWU added a single run.
Again Newberry would take a one run lead when freshman pinch hitter Jada Crocker (Gaffney, S.C.) singled to left to open the fifth. After Crocker was forced out at second on a fielder's choice by junior Gwenell Crawford (Yulee, Fla.), a single by Yancey would put runners on first and second.
An error would allow both Crawford and Yancey to advance an extra base, before both scored on a throwing error by SWU's right fielder after the initial error was recovered by the Warriors.
The two Newberry runs in the top of the fifth were met by a single SWU run, which tied the game at 4-4.
It was in the sixth inning with two outs that Newberry would open the game up. Workman led off the frame with a double, and would advance to third on a one-out single by junior Shelley Jeffcoat (Lexington, S.C.). A two-out fielding error by the Warriors saw Workman score and Phillips reach first, with Jeffcoat on second.
Yancey followed with a single, which loaded the bases. A dropped fly ball by the SWU shortstop during Holland's plate appearance would score Jeffcoat and Phillips, while allowing Yancey to reach third. Holland would steal second before both her and Yancey would score on a single to center by junior Ashley Roof (Columbia, S.C.).
Junior Kaylyn Camacho (Tampa, Fla.) singled to left to put runners on first and second, which was followed by a single by Workman that scored Roof. Bartek followed with a triple to right scoring both Workman and Camacho. The final Newberry run of the game came as Bartek scored, while Jeffcoat reached on a throwing error.
