Wolves drop pair to Blue Hose

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLINTON, S.C. - The Newberry College softball team struggled to get its offense going as the Presbyterian College Blue Hose swept Wednesday's doubleheader, 7-0 and 8-0 in five innings.

Newberry (3-5) will travel to Lander for a Saturday doubleheader, while Presbyterian (2-0) will host Oakland (Mich.) next Wednesday.

Game One: Presbyterian 7, Newberry 0
The Wolves got two runners into scoring position in the game, but the Blue Hose offense was too much to overcome in the first game.

Codi Kelly (New River, Ariz.), Felicia Taylor (Venice, Fla.) and Amber Holley (Aiken, S.C.) recorded singles, but no Newberry player could pass third base. Presbyterian scored seven runs on seven hits. Taylor (1-2) took the loss in the circle striking out five, but allowing seven earned runs on seven hits and five walks.

Game Two: Presbyterian 8, Newberry 0 (5 innings)
It was much of the same in the second game, as Newberry got its only hit in the first inning from Shelby Holland (Charlotte, N.C.) and couldn't convert on a first inning scoring opportunity.

The Blue Hose scored single runs in the first and second innings and three each in the fourth and fifth. Holley (2-2) took the loss, with five of eight runs earned, striking out one and walking none, but allowing eight hits.
