No. 12 Newberry Falls to No. 5 UPJ in First Round of East Coast Duals.

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The 12th-ranked Newberry College wrestling team fell in the first round of the East Coast Duals 25-10 to the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown on Friday evening at the Sports Center.

The Indians (11-4-1) lost the first two matches of the evening to go behind by a score of 9-0.  Tony Washington, the NCAA's sixth-ranked wrestler in the 141-pound weight class, scored a major decision victory over UPJ's Adam Whetstone to bring the team score to 9-4.  UPJ regrouped however, winning five of the last seven matches to go on to the victory.

Newberry will hit the mat tomorrow in day two of the duals as they face Shippensburg University, Gannon College, and Mercyhurst College.  Newberry will wrestle at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.
