Veronica Whitacre joined the Newberry College women’s wrestling staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach in 2026.
Whitacre comes to Newberry after spending three years coaching with CJA Wrestling Club in New Jersey, where she worked with wrestlers across multiple age groups and levels of experience. Her coaching experience also includes working with athletes at the state and national levels through USA Wrestling events, including 14U National Duals and Fargo, as well as various camps and clinics.
As an athlete, Whitacre developed within two nationally recognized women’s wrestling programs. She attended Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School in Kingston, Pennsylvania, from 2019-22, competing as part of one of the nation’s top high school wrestling programs during a pivotal period in the growth of women’s wrestling.
Whitacre continued her wrestling career at Sacred Heart University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Sport Management with a minor in Sport Communication in 2026. While at Sacred Heart, she continued to develop as a coach and mentor, ultimately leading her to pursue coaching at the collegiate level.
A New Jersey native, Whitacre is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Sport Management at Newberry College.
