Zach Edmunds completed his second season as tight ends coach in 2019 after being hired at his alma mater in March 2018.

Edmunds mentored a unit that included Austin Gordon, who had a breakout year with 13 catches for 133 yards, good for fifth on the team, and tied for the team lead with four touchdowns.

"We really enjoyed having Zach here as a player," head coach Todd Knight said upon his hiring. "He was a great player for us and we're incredibly excited to have him as a part of our staff. I think our kids will really benefit from his knowledge of the game."

"Newberry has always felt like home to me," Edmunds remarked, "so to be back here in a coaching role feels great. I'm very thankful to Coach Knight for giving me this opportunity and I can't wait to get started."

Edmunds was a two-year starter for the Wolves, earning second team all-South Atlantic Conference honors as a senior in 2015. He caught 25 passes for 224 yards and three touchdowns in scarlet and gray, playing in 32 games after transferring from Charleston Southern.

The Springfield, Virginia native made two playoff appearances while on the Wolves’ roster, helping Newberry to postseason berths in 2013 and 2015.

The 2018 season was Edmunds’ collegiate coaching debut. He spent time in the high school ranks as a defensive line coach prior to being hired onto Newberry’s staff.
