Landon Martin

Landon Martin enters his third season as a part of the Newberry College football coaching staff. Martin will be serving as the offensive line coach along with the sports information liaison in the staff. 

In 2022, Martin oversaw a offensive line that helped produce a rushing attack that averaged 201.5 yards per game which ranked 26th in the nation (3rd SAC). The offensive line paved the way for Harlon Hill Finalist Mario Anderson, who broke the school record for most rushing yards in a season (1,560 yards). The 2022 offensive line featured  All-SAC members, Jordan Campbell (first team), Noah Mangum (second team), and Kody Varn (second team).

In 2021, Martin oversaw an offensive line that finished the season with 204 yards rushing per game, which ranked second in conference play and 23rd nationally. The offensive line also allowed only 15 sacks, which ranked best in the South Atlantic Conference and 26th nationally. The offensive line also paved the way for leading rusher Mario Anderson who finished the season with 1,237 rushing yards, which ranks 2nd in Newberry College records for single-season rushing yards. 

Martin coached Alec Blackmon who allowed zero sacks and had 37 pancakes receive first-team All-Conference honors along with second-team All-Super Region for the Southeast. He also coached Cam Williams who received second-team All-conference honors.

Before joining the Newberry staff, Martin served as Assistant Offensive Line Coach at the University of South Carolina from 2016-2020.  While at South Carolina, the Gamecocks made three bowl game appearances (Birmingham Bowl, Outback Bowl, Belk Bowl).   Landon was named interim Offensive Line Coach for the 2020 Gasparilla Bowl, but the game was canceled due to COVID 19.  He also assisted in developing/coaching four NFL offensive linemen (Denis Daley - Carolina Panthers, Zack Bailey - Minnesota Vikings, Donell Stanley - Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sadarius Hutcherson - Tampa Bay Buccaneers).  

Martin played football for the Wolves from 2011-2015, where he was a three-year starter at Right Tackle.  He served as a Captain in 2014 and 2015.  Landon was also a two-time All-Conference selection and was also named All-ECAC, D2CCA All-Super Region II, and Don Hansen's All-Super Region II.  Martin was also a part of two teams that made the NCAA Division II playoffs (2013 & 2015).

Landon is married to Callahan Taylor Martin, and the couple has two daughters: Charleston Elle and Oakley Martin
