Newberry College Athletics

Ernie Hughes joined the Newberry football staff in the spring of 2014.

He has previously served in high school programs across the state of South Carolina. He was head coach at Buford (1989-95), Lugoff-Elgin (1995-2002), Keenan (2002-03) and Andrew Jackson (2003-08). Most recently, he had been an assistant coach at Northwestern HS in Rock Hill since 2008.

He will assist the staff on the defensive side of the ball, with a specialty on inside linebacker play.
