Newberry football head coach
Todd Knight has announced Dre Harris to return to Newberry to serve as an assistant coach for the Wolves for the 2024 season. Harris will be working with the quarterbacks.
Harris returns to Newberry after playing professionally overseas in the German Football League for the Regensburg Phoenix, where he threw for 2,138 yards and 28 touchdowns, leading the Phoenix to a 7-3 season.

Todd Knight said. "I'm hoping that the experience that Coach Harris brings to the table and the enthusiasm and the winning tradition that he brings to that room can't be matched by anyone else. Young quarterbacks that we have plus the transfers are very athletic and will relate to Dre Harris because he was that guy and he's honest, open, and transparent. He's probably the most decorated quarterback in the history of Newberry College football and he's looking to teach these kids where they could get better. He's learned about that years ago and it's neat to transfer that knowledge to the kids."
Harris was second all-time in school history with 6,185 passing yards along with 7,639 total yards in his four years spent as a Wolf. Harris is the only quarterback in Newberry College football history with two South Atlantic Conference championships at the quarterback position. Harris was a two-time all-conference performer along with an all-region quarterback in the 2022 season.
"Honestly it's pretty cool coming from the field to the sidelines because honestly I have so much knowledge to pass on to the guys." Coach Dre Harris said. "I want the program to elevate with the stuff we have here now and the talent we have here now, I feel like coming out of the professional level will help. The way they look up to me, they know I've been there. It's better for them and it makes me feel good as well."
A native of Greenville and a graduate of Mauldin High School, Harris received both his undergraduate degree in Sports Management in 2022 and his master's degree in Organizational Development and Leadership in 2023 from Newberry College.
