Justina Teale was named the Head Cheerleading Coach here at Newberry in August 2019. As the head coach she brings years of experience to the team, helping them to develop skills and confidence both on and off the field. Â
Teale has extensive leadership skills. She serves as an instructor for over 200 high school and middle school athletes for the Universal Cheerleaders Association, where she focuses on mentoring and enhancing the skills of young athletes across the Southeast. Before being the Head Coach at Newberry College, she coached at AC Flora High School.Â
Under Teale's guidance, the cheerleading team has seen great success, earning numerous awards and accolades in local and national competitions:Â
2021 Canam National Champions DII Intermediate Small Coed
2021 3rd Place at NCA College Nationals DII Intermediate Small Coed
2022 2nd Place Canam Nationals  DII Intermediate Small Coed
2023 Career & Program Record - Highest Score at NCA College Nationals in the DII Intermediate Small Coed Division.
Teale has continued to grow the program to be more competitive both in the state and on the National level. While fostering a sense of community and support within the team, making it a place where every member feels valued and encouraged to grow.Â
