Fico Kondla

Fico Kondla enters his third year as an assistant coach for the Newberry College baseball team.  On the field, he is in charge of coaching the infielders, hitting, and base running and serves as the first base coach.  Off the field, Kondla helps with recruiting, manages team travel, and assists in maintaining the baseball field.

In his first season on staff, the Wolves went 41-16, winning the first regular-season South Atlantic Conference Championship in program history.  Newberry also hosted the Southeast Regional for the first time.  The team finished the year with 122 stolen bases, leading the conference and finishing 10th in the country while also posting a .970 fielding percentage.

Kondla's second season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, Newberry was 18-6 when the season was canceled.  The Wolves finished the shortened season with 66 stolen bases in just 24 games to finish second in the country.  The team also fielded .974, good enough for 18th nationally.

Before Newberry, Kondla served as the top assistant for the Morehead City Marlins of the Coastal Plain League.  In both of his seasons with the Marlins, the teams would win the Coastal Plain League Championship, finishing with the best record each year.

Fico earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Exercise Science from Coker College in 2014, where he was a four-year member of the baseball team.  As a player, he was a First Team All-Conference selection,  NCBWA All-Region selection, named to the Conference Carolinas All-Tournament team, the NCAA Southeast Regional All-Tournament team. He was also a finalist for the Josh Willingham Award given to the NCAA Division II Baseball MVP.

He also received a Masters Degree from Coker in Athletic Administration in 2016.
