NEWBERRY, S.C. — Newberry College women's volleyball earned a straight-set victory over Mars Hill University on Friday night, defeating the Lions 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-21) at Eleazer Arena.

The win moves the Wolves to 9-3 overall and 2-3 in South Atlantic Conference play.
 

Newberry opened the match with a close 25-23 win in the first set before earning another 25-23 victory in the second. The Wolves closed out the match with a 25-21 third-set win to complete the sweep.

Symone Wyatt led the Wolves offensively with 12 kills, while Maggie Helle added 11 kills and 15 digs. Anna Schneider added six kills and 11 digs, while Hailey Clayworth led the defense with 17 digs.

Newberry also controlled the net throughout the match, recording nine total blocks compared to three for Mars Hill.

The Wolves will remain at home Saturday, Sept. 19, hosting Tusculum University at 2 p.m. at Eleazer Arena.
